Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Supra has larger tires than the ATS Coupe (F:255/35R19 & R:275/35R19 vs. F:225/40R18 & R:255/35R18).

The Supra’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the ATS Coupe’s standard 40 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Supra has standard 19-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the ATS Coupe.

Suspension and Handling

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Supra is 2.5 inches wider in the front and .9 inches wider in the rear than on the ATS Coupe.

The Supra 3.0 Premium handles at 1.07 G’s, while the ATS Coupe pulls only .94 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

The Supra is 11.1 inches shorter than the ATS Coupe, making the Supra easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The Supra has .7 inches more front headroom, .1 inches more front hip room and .3 inches more front shoulder room than the ATS Coupe.

Ergonomics

The Supra’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The ATS Coupe has a lever-type parking brake that has to be strenuously raised to engage properly. It has to be lifted up more and a button depressed to release it.

If the windows are left open on the Supra the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the ATS Coupe can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Supra’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The ATS Coupe’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.
