The Prius Prime’s maximum driving range in pure electric mode is 25 miles, over twice as far as the ALL4’s 12-mile range.

The Prius Prime has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 (11.4 vs. 9.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Toyota Prius Prime higher (7 out of 10) than the MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 (3). This means the Prius Prime produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Prius Prime has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 doesn’t offer a CVT.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prius Prime’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 (106.3 inches vs. 105.1 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Prius Prime’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the Cooper S E Countryman ALL4’s (33.4 feet vs. 37.4 feet).

Chassis

The Toyota Prius Prime may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 600 pounds less than the MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4.

The front grille of the Prius Prime uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Prius Prime has 2.8 inches more front legroom and .9 inches more rear headroom than the Cooper S E Countryman ALL4.

Cargo Capacity

Ergonomics
