The GT-R (except Premium/50th Anniversary Edition) offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the GT-R has larger front tires than the GranTurismo (F:255/40R20 & R:285/35R20 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:285/35R20).

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The Nissan GT-R may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 250 pounds less than the Maserati GranTurismo.

The GT-R is 8.7 inches shorter than the GranTurismo, making the GT-R easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Nissan GT-R amounts to more than styling. The GT-R has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the GranTurismo (.32). A more efficient exterior helps the GT-R go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GT-R get better fuel mileage.

The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The GranTurismo doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GT-R has a much larger trunk than the GranTurismo (8.8 vs. 6.1 cubic feet).

With its coupe body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the GT-R offers cargo security. The GranTurismo’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

The GT-R’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The GranTurismo does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GT-R’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The GranTurismo’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Intelligent Key standard on the GT-R allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Maserati GranTurismo doesn’t offer an advanced key system.

The GT-R’s standard steering wheel mounted cruise control is close at hand. The GranTurismo’s standard cruise control is on an over-crowded turn signal stalk.
